Consider the presumptuousness in the banking lobby involving itself and insisting that its interests be served in Congress as it fashions financial regulatory reform. That they are in any position to be part of that process is beyond at least John Galbraith. If you are interested, here is my post: http://euandus3.wordpress.com/2009/10/31/the-banking-lobby-on-the-presumptuousness-of-pushiness/

How are we as parents of young adults suppose to teach our children how to manage their money when the institutions that we have trusted for years have become thieves! I don't know how to explain the banking system to my 18 year old when every time I turn around my bank has stolen from me! Do I tell her not to put her money in a bank? The system is so messed up that I can hardly manage my money how will the young people of America ever navigate this system?

Stop doing business with banks. Take the power back and place your money in a local non profit credit union which serves the interests of its members and owners. Free yourself from Banking exploitation for good.

How are we as parents of young adults suppose to teach our children how to manage their money when we can no longer trust the institutions where we have placed our money for years?

Comments:
Modern banking was conceived and founded on the principle of a Ponzi like scheme which is referred to as fractional reserve banking. Taking your money inflating it and pocketing all the profits. All with the guarantee of the very depositors who are exploited in the first place (I.e. FDIC, etc). Banks are like ticks that burrow into the host and sucks its blood undercover and unnoticed. Banks have grown so powerful and numerous that they are now destroying the hosts because there isn't enough blood for the ticks to feast upon. Banks are destroying our economy and transferring vast amounts of wealth from the middle class to the insiders, elitists and oligarchs.

Banks produce nothing of value, accelerate economic recessions, cause community blight, destroy family stability and they do this under a scheme that risk other peoples money. That's heads they win and tails they break even. Either way the middle class looses and families suffer.

I argue that reforms are needed because execs have too much power over corp governance. Ironically, the reforms would bring corps closer to the public interest. Anyway, I've just posted on it. If you are interested, you might check out the following: http://skipworden.wordpress.com/2009/10/24/corporate-partisanship-eclipsing-the-public-interest/

I think the failure of Lehman's corporate governance was evidenced back in the Summer of 2008, when the top execs viewed the market rather than the stockholders as "demanding that we hold ourselves accountable," according to Skip McGee. I've just finished a blog post arguing that while self-accountability is a laudable goal, we can't (or shouldn't) rely on it. In fact, "holding ourselves accountable" suggests the absence of accountability through corporate governance.
